Character: Hades
Series: Hercules / Kingdom Hearts II
Version: Kingdom Hearts II, post Underdrome’s opening (I managed to actually put the movie as a prequel to the games. It oddly seems to work.)
Age: … old. Probably hundreds of years.
Gender: Male
Sexuality: FIRE. … N/A. He’d rather mock other peoples’ relationship than have one of his own.
Appearance:
Hades isn’t exactly nice on the eyes, especially when he opens his mouth to reveal pointed and definitely not pearly-white teeth. His yellow eyes are wide like an owl’s, his nose is hooked, ears pointed, and his face long like his fingers, but the most distracting feature is his hair: normally a blue fire, ever-flickering and sending off puffs. When his personality turns to rage, his blue hair and skin change color to red. It doesn’t help that the flames burst in size and spread down his shoulders as well. (Depending how angry he gets depends on how much of his body changes). Quite the scary lord, which is fitting, of course.
Aside from the most noticeable, Hades is a tall figure, and the clothing that covers is the same dark black and gray as his Underworld, held up by a skull fastener. Lucky for him his clothing is also fire proof.
Personality:
Hades has an easily shifting personality, which is easily noticeable as his flaming hair changes color from blue to red. Although the shift mostly goes from completely ruthless and mean, to sarcastic and just plainly not amused. Of course, his anger shows most around Hercules, and as of late Sora and his gang, along with Auron, would easily make him turn red hot.
His two henchmen, Pain and Panic, take the brunt of this, of course.
Aside from the flares of his personality, he is quite the smooth character in every other way, and will jump in quickly with a wisecrack at any opportunity available, no matter who it is he’s talking to. Good thing for him, Zeus is generally oblivious, otherwise he would catch the Lord of the Underworld on his lack of respect.
He also has a tendency to, oh, use people. Manipulation, after all, is a key to survival (or taking over Olympus, little things like that). But then, some people like Megara (and even indirectly Sora) are just so easy to manipulate, that it can’t all be his fault!
Abilities/Weaponry:
When in the Underworld, it is nearly impossible for outsiders to harm him. This is his domain, and he wouldn’t stand for anyone to get a break on him. And he’ll easily use it to his advantage. Of course, with Paixao, he’ll be quite unhappy with the loss of it.
Hades is quick, probably not enough to completely out move Larxene, but he can move around in the blink of an eye. The bottom of his body can also turn wispy with darkness, presumably by will, and generally if he’s quite content with things, like when his plans are going well.
He, obviously, has the power of fire, wielding it from his hands and using it like a blowtorch. When his anger gets worse, he creates huge meteor-like fireballs that he throws at his enemies, or creates walls of flame to trap them. It is best to just not get him angry.
Weaknesses:
His temperament. Anger management, anyone? That is the worst of his weaknesses, it will cloud his mind and keep him from thinking logically (although by no means is he unintelligent to start with). Also, with having a fire affinity, his attacks can be encountered with water, and it is possible to lock him up for a short while in a chamber of ice, which will end up making him more angry… and more clouded. Big fiery attacks will not solve everything, after all. He is also very prideful, which will not help.
In Paixao, he is still immortal, even if he’s doubtful that the city has its own Underworld (he would probably know right away if it did). But it is also easy to beat him down several notches, outsmart him (especially when he's fired up) and keep beating him, until he's either forced to flee or looks dead.
Because he doesn't have any Underworld to recover in, if he is beaten to the point of what-would-be death, it does take him some time to heal his injuries, and if he's not careful, he'll just be attacked again.
History:
Hades was so “wonderfully” given his job by Zeus. He would have taken new rule of Olympus if Hercules had never been born, but his luck, unfortunately, didn’t work out that way, and even as a baby, Hercules could bruise Hades. Wonderful. Just great. Hades was thrilled.
Courtesy of Pain and Panic messing up the original job to make Hercules mortal (by drinking a vial of liquid; he needed to drink every last drop, but they dropped the bottle in a shock, and failed to get that last drop in), Hercules was able to grow up keeping most of his godlike powers. Hades did not know about this until he put his plots forward to take over Olympus, and when he found out, Pain and Panic were lucky to not be torn apart by his wrath.
He thought he would be able to fix things by using Megara as the little tool of his, for her womanly charms worked easily enough on Hercules – he already had feelings for her, after all. Only all his plans seem to fall through! Hercules, even after losing his powers, still managed to take one of the Titans out, and then after trying to save Megara, regained his powers. Megara’s soul still ended up in Hades’ pool of souls though, and when Hercules came to retrieve it, Hades oh-so-nicely allowed him to go and fetch it. It was only after Hercules jumped in that Hades thought to mention that he’d be dead before he got to her.
Except when the Fates went to cut his thread of life, it glowed gold and became unbreakable. Like he was immortal. But only gods are immortal…
Hercules pulled Megara from the pool and Hades tried to convince him to stop, or ‘put in a good word’ to his dad to forget the whole thing. When he went to touch Megara’s soul, Hercules punched him hard until he fell back into his very own pool of souls. Pain and Panic were convinced that he would be very angry if he ever got out, and oh, he was when he did. The Underworld needed some remodeling anyway, but who would notice if he leveled half of it in his rage.
It took a bit of time to recover from being in the pool for so long, but when he finally peered out from his realm, he saw that Hercules had taken up in the entertainment business – a nice, show-off place called Olympic Coliseum. That would not do. After his recovery hit full, he had the “pleasure” of coming face to face with Maleficent. He agreed (though with some annoyance and reluctantly towards her; he did not like her in his Underworld) to join her band of evil, and with the world’s heart in danger, Heartless made their home in the Underworld and into the games.
It was time for some overdo revenge on Hercules. He tricked Cloud Strife by “promising” (any promise of his is empty) him that he could lead the blonde to Sephiroth. Cloud agrees to challenge Hercules, but Sora arrives and Hades flips around his plans and gets Cloud to attack Sora first – but the blonde is defeated. Finding Cloud useless to him, Hades sends out his three-headed pet, Cerberus, to get rid of him. Hercules pulls the defeated Cloud out of the danger though, and Sora and the others take care of Cerberus, much to Hades’ extreme displeasure.
Maleficent shows up later while Hades tries to get control of his plots and think them through, and he tells her to go away – this was “his show” after all. Only he would take out Hercules, and Sora too. He had not been expecting Maleficent to later be defeated, and finally took on Sora himself in the tenth round of the Hades Tournament. Like Maleficent though, Sora defeats him, Donald puts out his hair (just like that rotten Pegasus!), and Hades returns to his Underworld to plot and ploy again.
Time passes and Hades lets Hercules think he’s seen the last of him, although the Lord of the Underworld is far from letting the hero go. He begins to send more Heartless and creatures at Hercules than ever before, and Megara tries to go and convince him to stop. His Heartless stop her from getting to him, and after she escapes she is saved by Sora’s crew.
Hades was already realizing that Hercules was still pulling through whatever he sent at him, even before Pete arrived to tell him so. He was nearly about to lash out in annoyance at Pete, after his mocking, but then realized that Pete had brought up a good point. He’d use someone already dead to fight Hercules – and he knew just the man!
Pete’s terrified face only served to amuse Hades. They went to his pool of souls and summoned the “mother of all bad guys” (if Pete wasn’t terrified enough). Hades went to work right on making a deal with Auron, but that hardly works, and Auron sends Hades into a fiery rage. They fight and lo and behold, Sora and co show up to save him. Lucky for Hades, this is his Underworld and they find that they can’t fight him. Auron gets back up and drags them out, Hades chasing them all the way with Heartless until they finally manage to escape his clutches again.
Pete returns to interfering and angrily Hades tells him to get go, calling up Cerberus and sending him out. Cerberus fails. Although meanwhile, Pete tells Hades about Sora’s keyblade, and Hades with a laugh works out a plan, summoning Megara’s statue to his palm. This plan requires another of her “woman’s touch” that would be perfect for her from only her.
He sets a trap using Megara, putting her behind lock and keyhole – one that Sora would have to open. And at the same time, it would open the Underdrome that Zeus himself had locked tight.
With a laugh he goes to the coliseum to greet Hercules and “lets it slip” that “little Nutmeg” got herself “lost” in the Underworld. Hercules almost rushes off to her, but Hades reminds him that he has a match against the Hydra. Hercules entrusts Sora and co to rescuing Megara (just what Hades was hoping) and Hercules takes care of the Hydra. He fights it as quickly as possible and then runs off to Meg, but Hades’ Hydra was far from dead.
The crew fall for Hades’ trap, unlocking the keyhole. Hades cares little then that Pete gets himself defeated; his Underdrome is reopened, Olympus Coliseum destroyed, everything is going according to plan!
.....except for Paixao.
